Rivalry adds ex-Twitter VP to board
Toronto-listed esports operator bolsters boardroom with the appointment of Kirstine Stewart
Esports-centric operator Rivalry has appointed former Twitter executive and author Kirstine Stewart to its board of directors.
Stewart has held a series of executive roles across the US and Canada and now joins the Toronto-listed firm as it gears up for the next stage of its development.
Stewart served as Twitter’s founding head of Canada from April 2013 until January 2015. She also assumed the role of VP media North America in September 2014 until her departure from the social media firm in September 2016.
She then spent more than two years with the World Economic Forum as head of future of media.
The former CBC exec currently serves as chief revenue officer for digital rights technology company Pex.
Stewart joins former president and CEO of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation Stephen Rigby on the operator’s board.
Speaking on her arrival, Stewart said: “I couldn’t be more excited to be joining the board of such an innovative team in the sports betting industry.
“Rivalry’s media and betting strategy is creating something unique for the next generation of sports bettors, and I am excited to see us continue to grow and evolve alongside this fast-paced industry,” she added.
Steven Salz, Rivalry CEO, commented: “I’m confident [Stewart’s] significant knowledge and category understanding will enable us to further execute on our vision to provide the safest and most engaging sports betting and sports media experience in the world for the next generation of fans.”
