Rank names Martin Pugh as new Mecca Bingo MD
Former Camelot UK managing director to replace Mark Jones who steps over to Rank's Grosvenor Casinos brand
Rank Group has named former Camelot UK managing director Martin Pugh as the new MD of its Mecca Bingo brand following October’s management reshuffle.
“Rank is already one of the industry leaders in bingo and, with Martin’s wealth of experience in not only gambling but also marketing and leisure, I am confident that he will help us to bring gaming based entertainment to an even wider audience,” Henry Birch, Rank Group CEO, said.
Pugh joins the firm having previously served as managing director of Camelot’s UK-facing business, and will also sit on Rank’s executive committee.
“Rank has fantastic assets and brands and has the potential to grow substantially its business across all channels,” Pugh said.
The group was forced into restructuring its management team after Grosvenor Casinos MD Phil Urban announced he was to leave the firm to become COO at pub and restaurant operator Mitchells & Butlers.
Urban’s departure led Rank to switch Mecca Bingo managing director Mark Jones to the Grosvenor Casinos brand, with Birch serving in the vacant role on an interim basis while a long-term replacement was found.
