Rank Group posts double-digit online revenue rise
Digital revenues from the UK-based operator's Grosvenor Casino and Mecca brands soar 55% and 18% respectively
Rank Group’s digital business posted a double-digit revenue rise for the 20 weeks ended 17 May this morning, with mobile and live casino driving strong growth across both its Grosvenor Casino and Mecca brands.
“The Group’s performance continued to improve in the 20-week period, with our digital channels performing particularly strongly driven by improvements in marketing, retail cross-over and product development,” Rank Group chief executive, Henry Birch, said.
The operator revealed revenues from its online Grosvenor Casino arm had increased 55% year-on-year following growth in its live casino product and an increased number of active users.
Rank’s Mecca Bingo business also reported a strong 20-week period after revenues increased 18% compared to the same period last year, which the company said was the result of a revamped mobile product and new TV advertising campaign.
“The improvement in Mecca’s digital revenue seen in the last 20 weeks is especially pleasing resulting in overall growth in the Mecca brand,” Birch added.
The Rank Group’s overall revenues increased 4% year-on-year, with revenues from Grosvenor Casinos and Mecca up 8% and 1% respectively.
Today’s interim financial results follow the recent appointment of former Ladbrokes chief executive, and non-executive chairman of XLMedia, Christopher Bell to its board as senior independent director.
Earlier this year Rank announced a deal with supplier Bede Gaming which will see Rank Interactive gain greater control over its core digital platform.
