Rank âoutperformingâ mobile bingo market
CEO Henry Birch praises âastoundingâ adoption of mobile at Mecca Bingo and expects the platformâs growth to continue
Rank CEO Henry Birch has claimed his firmâs Mecca Bingo brand is outperforming the mobile bingo market after its revenues on the platform rose by 41% year-on-year.
Birch also said the adoption of mobile by its customers â half of all new digital customers for year ended 30 June came from mobile â was âpretty astoundingâ.
Total mobile revenues from Rankâs two brands â Mecca Bingo and Grosvenor Casinos â rose 43% year-on-year to £18.9m, amounting to more than a quarter of total digital revenue, which grew marginally to £72.4m.
And Birch said he expected the firmâs mobile businesses to continue to grow over the 2014-15 financial year as it continues to invest in the platform.
âIn reality thereâs going to be a continued blurring of whatâs PC, tablet and mobile device, but clearly weâre well positioned there especially in terms of product which is excellent, but also in terms of our existing customer base and their use of mobile products,â Birch said.
Rank is currently overhauling its digital products, triggered by poor performance from its products in the first half of the year and general performance issues.
A content deal with casino supplier Evolution Gaming signed last month saw Mecca Bingoâs mobile apps integrate live roulette games, with Rank hoping to benefit on the âgreat deal of synergyâ between mobile bingo and live casino.
