Poll: Who will make the biggest impact in M&A?
GVC and 888 both announced their intent to be active in the M&A market last week, but who will make the biggest move in 2015?
Most of the consolidation talk so far has been around the likes of William Hill, Intertain and Amaya, but GVC and 888 both made headlines last week as they set out their stall as major players in the M&A space.
Kenneth Alexander, GVC chief executive, said he would “rule nothing out” when it came to acquisitions and he told a Bloomberg journalist he was looking at “something like” bwin.party as a potential target.
Meanwhile 888 was said to be running a rule over a “big list” of acquisition targets with its COO Itai Frieberger saying product was one key area they were looking at.
But they are just two of the big firms in online gambling thought to be involved in ongoing discussions as the industry looks poised for its most significant consolidation phase to-date.
Betsson said back in February it was analysing a number of potential regulated market acquisitions, with the UK a potential target market.
And the operator has previously been very acquisitive in its growth plans with the firm purchasing Netherlands-facing brands Oranje and Kroon Casino during 2014.
Unibet is another firm expected to make a move with its CEO Henrik Tjarnstrom telling eGaming Review back in Q1 it would look to take an active role in any industry consolidation.
But with so many potential acquirers who do you think will make the biggst impact on the sector in the remainder of the year? Cast your vote on the right hand side of the page.
