Poll: Which operator has most attractive Euro 2016 offer?
Bookies have been busy rolling out a range of promotions and free bet deals ahead of the tournament
With just a few days until the big Euro 2016 kick-off, the battle between operators to increase their share of customer wallet during tournament is beginning to heat up.
Euro 2016 is arguably the single biggest betting event since the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and bookies’ marketing teams are under pressure to lure customers in with a range of attractive betting offers.
BetVictor’s ‘The Million Pound Goal’ promotion caught the attention of the industry by offering a seven-figure sum to the customer (or customers) who correctly predicts, or is closest to predicting, the first goal scorer and time of first goal in the Euro 2016 final.
In an attempt to retain customers for the duration of the tournament, the bookie’s deal enables punters to earn a prediction upon placing a qualifying bet of at least ?5 and for each five qualifying bets thereafter.
However, other operators have also been busy rolling out offers which, while they may not attract the headlines of a ?1m giveaway, are arguably no less attractive to the recreational punter.
Ladbrokes, for example, has taken a somewhat home nations flavour with its lead offer. The Magic Sign will be refunding losing pre-match bets (on selected markets) – as a free bet of up to ?25 – on all England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic Ireland games if the match ends in a draw.
Meanwhile, bet365 is aiming to ease the pain for punters should their backed side exit on penalties by refunding all losing pre-tournament outright bets on teams dumped out via a shoot-out failure. Betfred will be refunding all outright bets on England should they once again go out on penalties.
William Hill opted for an England-specific promotion by offering punters who place at least ?10 England to win Euro 2016 a ?5 free bet every time the Three Lions win a match.
A raft of other firms have adopted a similar strategy, with Sky Bet’s offer of a ?3 free bet every time a customer’s ?10 outright selection wins a match during the tournament arguably the most attractive. Coral, Betfair, Stan James and Boylesports are also offering customers free bets every time their outright or top goal scorer selection wins but to higher qualifying and free bet stakes.
With the above in mind, this week’s eGaming Review poll asks which operator you think is best placed to win the customer acquisition war with their respective Euro 2016 offers.
