Poll results: Voice activated betting to fall on deaf ears
Respondents to this week's EGR poll believe new product is unlikely to gain much traction
Using a Siri-style voice activated function to place bets is unlikely to prove popular among punters, according to the majority of respondents to this week’s eGaming Review poll.
Earlier this week EGR revealed Unibet had developed a new voice activated betting product which it believes will improve the customer journey and eventually enable punters to place bets while simultaneously watching streams on their mobile phone.
With this in mind EGR asked whether placing bets through voice recognition would prove to be popular or whether punters would continue to favour the tried and tested bet placement methods.
And more than two-thirds (69%) of respondents gave voice activated betting the thumbs down, perhaps swayed by the fact that recent bet placement developments, such as text betting, also failed to resonate with punters.
However, the remaining 31% were open to the idea of voice betting, with the ability for customers to relay their requested bets audibly eliminating the frustrating time spent searching for their preferred market.
The imminent launch of voice activated betting, which will form part of Unibet’s upcoming app update, comes as Paddy Power this week unveiled its in-play one touch betting functionality.
