Poll results: Readers predict Ongame write-off
Nearly half of voters suspect no suitable bid will come in for the bwin.party network before the end of the year.
With time running out before bwin.party’s year-end deadline for the sale of the Ongame network, nearly half of all voters in this week’s eGaming Review poll believe a write-off is the most likely outcome.
43% of readers expect that no buyer will be found, with the next most likely eventuality a sale to a European operator or sportsbook according to 23% of those who voted.
Despite a number of US land-based casinos or tribes considering an entry into the online space, readers remain unconvinced that they will do so through a purchase of the network which bwin bought for 474m six years ago.
Even before bwin merged with PartyGaming earlier this year it was accepted that Ongame would be sold as a “surplus asset”, and while at the time the companies were considered to be “not in a hurry to sell”, the combined entity later stated that it hoped a sale could be completed before the end of the year.
However the votes for a sale to US casinos or tribes – 19% and 15% respectively – suggest eGR’s readers are less confident.
