Poll results: One touch betting is here to stay
Respondents to this week's EGR poll say Paddys' One Touch betting feature will prove popular
Paddy Power’s new sports betting feature has been given the thumbs-up by eGaming Review readers after respondents to this week’s poll said One Touch would prove to be the latest big in-play innovation.
The operator said the feature, which enables customers to place an in-play bet with just one tap, was developed after customer research showed a level of frustration at the occasional inability to get in-play bets accepted due to market suspensions and odds volatility.
Paddys’ One Touch product manager John Campbell was so confident in the new function that he told EGR copycat offerings would soon spring up across the industry.
And 63% of readers appeared to agree with Campbell after they polled that One Touch would turn out to be a major piece of in-play innovation.
When a logged-in user clicks onto the in-play screen via the Paddy Power app, they can toggle the One Touch functionality to ‘on’, and select their pre-set One Touch stake.
Once activated, customers simply click the selection odds they want, and the bet is placed for the predetermined stake.
However, while the function does speed-up live betting, it is not without its flaws.
There are the obvious concerns about accidental bets being placed – although Campbell said it had not been an issue in the testing phase, it could be a different story once punters start playing with the app when out and about.
Similarly, One Touch is also something of a blunt instrument – punters will want different stakes on a team to win a game than they are on a next goal scorer selection, for example.
And 37% of respondents appeared to harbour similar doubts and suggested that One Touch was destined to become yet another sportsbook gimmick that would fail to gain traction.
