Poll results: Further withdrawals expected from UK market
Half of respondents to this week's eGR poll believe an increasing number of offshore firms will pull products ahead of PoC
The UK market should expect further product withdrawals prior to the onset of next month’s new licensing regime, according to respondents to this week’s eGaming Review poll.
Last week a trio of offshore operators confirmed they were to close some or all of their UK-facing verticals after a review of the market and the impact the new UK licensing regime is set to have when it comes into force next month.
More recently, Asia-facing sports betting firm Pinnacle has joined the exodus, while 32Red also moved quickly to acquire the UK customer database of rival casino Go Wild after Go Wild confirmed it was to withdraw from the UK market following an internal review.
And half of respondents to this week’s eGR poll believe the recent flurry of exits is set to continue, believing a significant number will decide they won’t be able to compete and promptly exit before any losses can be incurred.
Just 11% of respondents believe operators will prefer to attempt to operate under the new market conditions and taxation regime before making a decision on their futures in the market.
The remaining 39% consider that while all operators will review their involvement in a post-Point of Consumption landscape, only a minority will actually withdraw from the market.
