Poll: Will operators follow BGO and scrap bonus wagering requirements?
This week’s poll considers whether Bgo’s new policy will boost player LTV’s as intended or be a costly experiment
Casino operator Bgo Entertainment last week announced it was removing wagering requirements on bonus funds in an effort to tackle the industry’s growing culture of “over bonusing”
The new consumer-friendly approach will come into force in October with the operator issuing bonuses as real cash or free spins.
Bgo CFO Hannah Westley said the move was a reaction to falling retention around the industry, as players signed up for massive bonuses but often failed to stick around.
BGO itself has been fined £300,000 for unfair terms and conditions, while the industry’s practices are currently the subject of an ongoing CMA investigation with several operators forced to reconsider how they use bonuses.
With that in mind, we want to know whether other operators might follow BGO and do away with wagering requirements? The benefits might include less regulatory scrutiny and the potential for greater player loyalty and trust.
The downsides could be reduced acquisition and a financial hit as a percentage of players take the money and run.
