Poll results: New PPB CEO should focus on fixing gaming issues
39% of readers say declining gaming revenues should take precedence as Peter Jackson settles into his new role
New Paddy Power Betfair CEO Peter Jackson should focus on fixing the firm’s gaming issues, according to a plurality of EGR readers.
Jackson joined the firm earlier this week to fill the shoes of the departing Breon Corcoran.
And 39% of poll voters believe the operator’s declining gaming revenues should be the biggest concern for the incoming CEO.
The firm has hinted at reviving one of the firm’s mothballed brands Roller or Flutter to resuscitate the vertical.
Elsewhere, a focus on sportsbook was recommended by 30% of voters, highlighting a recent 3% slide in PPB sports betting revenues for Q3 2017.
The drop is said to be the result of a platform integration project, although analyst Morgan Stanley warned the conclusion of the project may not result in the expected turnaround.
Meanwhile 19% of readers think the Exchange should top Jackson’s list, with Betfair’s product facing increasingly aggressive rivals.
Finally, 12% of readers consider M&A a potential fix for the operator’s gaming woes, suggesting Jackson should focus on scoring new deals in 2018.
