PokerStars' lead in Italy cut
PokerStars' share of Italian ring games fell to 21% last month from the post-regulation high of 28% in August, but operator retains dominance of tournament format.
PokerStars’ share of the Italian cash poker market continued to contract in October, falling 2.5% month-on-month to just over 21%.
The operator’s 21.7% share of revenue from the Italian ring games market in October represents a fall of around 7% from the high of 28.4% it claimed in August, the first full month of regulated cash poker in Italy, according to the latest monthly dataset from Italian regulator AAMS.
Stars however retained its dominance of the tournament format in Italy, increasing its share of this market to 37.15% from the 36.27% and 36% market shares reported in September and August respectively.
Lottomatica’s dominance of the sports betting market continued unabated, its 33.72% market share last month comfortably ahead of SNAI, with 10.67%, Sisal with 9.53% and Bwin Italia with 7.58%.
The Italian market leader’s share was however nearly 5% lower than the 38.46% recorded in August.
