PokerStars hires Eurobet gaming director as Italy head
Eurobet's Marco Trucco to replace Barbara Beltrami as head of the poker operator's Italian business next month
PokerStars has appointed Eurobet’s gaming director Marco Trucco as the online poker operator’s new country manager for Italy, eGaming Review can confirm.
Trucco is expected to take up his new role next month after serving out his notice period at Eurobet and will replace Barbara Beltrami who has led PokerStars’ Italian business since May 2008.
A spokesperson for PokerStars confirmed the appointment of Trucco but declined to comment further, while eGR also understands Eurobet has yet to appoint a successor for Trucco with the recruitment process still ongoing.
PokerStars.it was launched in October 2008 and is currently the largest online poker room in Italy with a seven day average of 1,300 online players, ahead of iPoker.it with 375, according to PokerScout.
Trucco will oversee PokerStars’ expansion into the casino vertical in Italy after parent company Amaya Gaming recently revealed the operator was to launch a casino in both Italy and Spain before the end of the year.
Trucco joins the Amaya Gaming-owned firm after working for over two years as gaming director of Gala Coral’s Italian business Eurobet which he joined in August 2012.
Prior to Eurobet, Trucco was CEO of CasinoItalia.it and previously worked for Betclic Everest Group subsidiary Everest Gaming where he held the roles of global PR manager and later Italy country manager.
