PokerStars head of social Buser departs
Search for new director of social gaming begins with mobile expansion plans looming
PokerStars’ director of social gaming Mark Buser has left after one year at the Isle of Man-based operator, eGaming Review has learned.
A spokesperson for PokerStars confirmed the “recent” departure of Buser, who joined the operator last April, and said the company was “actively looking” for a replacement.
The firm launched its first social casino product, PokerStars PLAY, on Facebook last February which is currently still in beta and has over 100,000 monthly users.
The new director of social gaming, who will report directly to COO Rafi Ashkenazi, will be responsible for product development, marketing, P&L and day-to-day management of the operator’s social gaming arm.
The Isle of Man-licensed company is also believed to be planning to launch a mobile version of its social product on iOS and Android in the near future.
Buser became head of social gaming at PokerStars in April 2013 having previously worked for San Francisco-based operator Idle Games where he held the role of general manager of Fresh Deck Poker.
He first joined Idle Games in December 2010 as director of monetisation and game design, working simultaneously as general manager of the social casino firm’s flagship app.
