Pokernews founder Guoga no longer PartyPoker ambassador
Power Affiliates speaker pledges to turn attention to TonyBet business.
Pokernews founder and poker pro Tony Guoga has ended his sponsorship and ambassadorial deal with PartyPoker.
Guoga (pictured), who had represented the bwin.party-owned brand for three years, will now turn his attention towards his own egaming business TonyBet.
The sports betting operator is licensed in Estonia, and already has a pool betting agreement in place with Unibet’s B2B division Kambi.
While primarily focused on the sports vertical, TonyBet also offers live casino. It is the successor to the Omnibet sportsbook, which Guoga acquired and rebranded in 2009.
In an exclusive interview with eGaming Review last year, Guoga said of TonyBet: “Our aim is to have the best odds in the world and provide the best service, and that doesn’t happen overnight.
“We also want to be in regulated markets; we want to be licensed,” he added, before noting in a post on his personal blog on Friday that “We are still very much in the early stages “ we have huge plans.”
Responding to a question on the blog, Guoga said “We are growing fast and should have an online poker client on the site very soon,” noting that the operator was in discussions with Microgaming.
Last August saw TonyBet open a land-based betting shop in Estonia, the first of its kind in the EU Member State.
Guoga will be among the speakers at next month’s eGaming Review Power Affiliates summit, held at Pennyhill Park in Bagshot, Surrey.
