Poker maestro Jason Koon becomes new GGPoker ambassador
The American will focus on strengthening the poker room’s security and game integrity efforts in the new role
US professional poker player Jason Koon has joined GGPoker as its latest global ambassador.
One of the world’s most successful players, Koon is ranked 10th on the all-time money list, with more than $32m in live tournament cash, including multiple high roller tournament victories.
Hailing from West Virginia, he will join the roster of GGTeam global ambassadors alongside Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Dan Bilzerian and Fedor Holz.
Koon’s role as an ambassador will focus on strengthening the poker room’s security and game integrity efforts, as well as acting as an advocate for high roller and VIP players.
“I’m really excited to join GGPoker, particularly so soon after they’ve taken a leading role in the poker world,” said Koon.
“I’m also thrilled to be in a position to help with game security and player advocacy, making GGPoker an even better place to play our favourite game.”
GGPoker said Koon’s arrival will help to ensure that VIPs are given due consideration at all times by management.
“At GGPoker, we view ambassadors as part of our overall team,” said GGPoker’s director of sponsorships and live events John Scanlon.
“We want them as bought into keeping GGPoker the number one site in the world as we are. Jason’s reputation and how he handles himself personally and professionally makes him an ideal global ambassador.
“Having a player of his calibre providing advice and direction and representing the most committed segment of our player community is invaluable for us,” he added.
GGPoker was one of just 10 firms – and the only poker specific operator – to receive a licence in the newly regulated Dutch market last month.
