PointsBet eyes diversity gains with Women in Sports Tech partnership
PointsBet has agreed a partnership with non-profit organisation Women In Sports Tech (WiST).
WiST aims to drive growth opportunities for women at “the intersection of sports, technology, and innovation” through support and assistance-based programmes.
This includes both live and virtual programmes, events and internships to support and empower women at all stages of their career.
PointsBet will provide support to the non-profit organisation including fireside chats and panels with veterans and industry executives, as well as summer internships through the WiST Fellowship program.
The operator has also committed to attending and providing representation at WiST career fairs pertaining to the sports tech landscape for middle and high school students.
WiST is led by CEO and co-founder Marilou McFarlane.
The organisation has partnered with over 23 major US companies including Comcast NBCUniversal SportsTech Accelerator, IBM Sports, Nike, NBA/WNBA, and AEG Worldwide.
“We are firmly committed to doing our part to ensure women feel empowered to contribute and take part in this lucrative industry,” said PointsBet US CEO Johnny Aitken.
“As we continue to build upon our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, our partnership with WiST will be a very important piece of that puzzle,” he added.
