PMU appoints new international head
Banking veteran Jonathan Bryden appointed to lead operator's international B2C business
Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) has appointed Jonathan Bryden to the position of head of external international development as the French operator looks to ramp up its B2C business.
In his new role at the former monopoly, Bryden has assumed responsibility for the development of the operator’s international B2C projects including licence renewals and the creation of new strategic partners.
“Jonathan Bryden will assist the PMU in its development of B2C which will accelerate in 2014,” Aymeric Verlet, international director at PMU, said. “His experience will be an asset for the progression of the many projects that are key strategic plans of the PMU.”
Bryden joined PMU earlier this month bringing with him a strong background in banking after working on mergers and acquisitions, market capital raising and IPO’s at HSBC and Citigroup.
The appointment follows a strong end to 2013 for PMU which bucked the industry trend for poker by reporting a 19.5% increase in gross gaming revenue (GGR) to 21.6m.
Sports betting continued the increase reported in Q3 with GGR up 20.7% year-on-year to 38.5m with PMU accrediting the rise to the renewed popularity of Ligue 1 football in the 2013/14 season.
Earlier this month eGaming Review reported that the operator may soon separate the liquidity of its horserace betting business between physical outlets and online following a complaint by rival French operator Betclic Everest Group.
