Playtech hires former Italian gaming regulator Rodano
Francesco Rodano appointed chief policy officer after seeing out the remainder of contract at AAMS
Former Italian gaming regulator Francesco Rodano has joined Playtech as chief policy officer after leaving his position with the Italian government.
In his new role, Rodano will be responsible for advising the supplier giant on the gambling policies of different countries, finding new business opportunities, and developing relationships with key policy-makers and industry stakeholders.
Rodano will be based in Playtech’s London office and report directly to the group’s chief executive Mor Weizer.
“Thanks to his professional achievements and his personal stature, Francesco has become a highly influential figure in the international online gambling arena,” said Weizer
“We’re delighted he has chosen to join Playtech and I’m sure he will provide an invaluable contribution to the further growth of the company,” he added.
Last year, eGaming Review revealed Rodano was set to leave Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (AAMS) after being offered a role as senior director of market strategies and development at IGT.
However, he decided to see out the remainder of his fixed-term contract with the AAMS.
During his time at the regulator he played a key role in the liberalisation of the Italian market, overseeing the addition of regulated slots to the casino vertical and the introduction of a wider range of sports betting markets.
“After many years spent as a regulator, I’m excited to move to the industry side and to join Playtech at a time when focus on regulated markets is a global priority,” said Rodano.
“Playtech has a talented and respected management team and I am really looking forward to supporting them on public policy matters,” he added.
