Playtech receives first GamCare safer gambling standard award
Supplier granted accreditation for UK casino product and platform operations as well as sustainable business strategy
Playtech has become the first recipient of the GamCare B2B safer gambling standard award.
The London-headquartered supplier received the award from the charity for its casino product and platform operations licensed in the UK.
Under the standard award process, GamCare looks at measures put in place to protect customers from experiencing gambling-related harm while recognising those companies that put customer protection at the forefront of their operations.
The accreditation process involved an in-depth review of Playtech’s business focusing on company-wide culture and executive support for safer gambling, as well as looking into how product teams built safer gambling in to the design and development of products.
In addition, GamCare highlighted Playtech’s ‘Sustainable Success’ business strategy and the implementation of an external Stakeholder Advisory Board as examples of good practice in safer gambling.
GamCare also referenced Playtech Protect, which includes compliance and safer-gambling themed technologies including BetBuddy, which can be provided to operators to enhance their own safer gambling procedures.
GamCare head of safer gambling standards Hayley Jane Smith confirmed Playtech was the recipient of an Advanced Level 2 safer gambling award, citing Playtech’s “clear focus” on safer gambling innovation.
“Playtech’s focus on safer gambling was tested through an in-depth review of its governance, product design, innovation and staff training, as well as conducting interviews with staff and management at all levels,” she explained.
“We look forward to continuing to work with Playtech on the ongoing development of its safer gambling approach and the assessment of its other B2B business operations,” Smith added.
