Playtech and Kindbridge team up for gambling harm research project
London-listed supplier to work with virtual mental health clinic to combat gambling addiction in the US
Supplier giant Playtech has teamed up with virtual mental health clinic Kindbridge to develop a new research partnership to combat gambling-related harm.
The tie-up will result in the creation of an evidence-based model for gambling treatment in a ‘telehealth’ setting.
The pair have tapped the Center for Gambling Studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey to lead the research which will be used to measure the effectiveness of online support and treatments for gambling-related harm.
The research will focus on the mental health of gamblers, gamers and those suffering from digital dependency and exploring the best ways to support them.
Kindbridge currently works with casino operators throughout the US, as well as insurance companies and social impact organisations, to develop care pathways that eliminate existing barriers for those suffering from mental health problems connected to gambling.
The analysis will be used to define personalised approaches to treatment, with the timeframe for publishing the insight set at 18 to 24 months’ time.
Mor Weizer, Playtech CEO said: “The research partnership with Kindbridge and Rutgers University will play a critical role in helping the sector design and deliver high quality digital wellbeing and mental health support for those at-risk and affected by gambling-related harm.”
Daniel Umfleet, Kindbridge CEO, added: “This research will allow data scientists, academics and researchers to gain more insight on effective support and treatment in a digital environment than ever before.”
