WorldRemit hires Andrew Lee
Former William Hill Online boss joins the London-based money transfer start-up as the firm’s new president
Former William Hill Online managing director, Andrew Lee, was been appointed president of money transfer service WorldRemit, it was announced this week.
Lee left William Hill in January after nearly four years at the operator, which also included stints as head of business integration and then interim head of mobile.
In his new role at the London-based start-up, Lee will develop tasked with developing its global brand and leading the expansion of the group’s international operations.
“WorldRemit is growing and evolving quickly – in terms of the number of people using the service, its international partnerships, technological capabilities and employee base,” Lee said.
“That makes it a very exciting time for me to join the team and share my experiences of other fast growing businesses and industries.”
James Henderson makes rapid William Hill exit
William Hill CEO James Henderson has left the operator with immediate effect, four months after the company was forced to issue a profit warning due to the underperformance of its digital business.
Henderson had worked at Hills for more than 30 years but saw his two-year tenure as chief executive marred by a raft of senior staff departures and a struggling financial performance.
Chief financial officer (CFO), Philip Bowcock, has been appointed interim CEO until a permanent replacement has been found. The firm will announce an interim CFO in due course.
“James’s career with William Hill has spanned over 30 years covering the Retail, Online and international businesses,” William Hill chairman, Gareth Davis, said.

Amaya sheds jobs in London office
Amaya is cutting dozens of jobs at its London office in an effort to streamline the business, EGR has learned.
The redundancy process started with the Full Tilt merger in May and forms part of an ongoing cost-cutting exercise, with roles being moved to cheaper locations like the Isle of Man where possible, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Amaya’s London office – a marketing services hub – is located on Air Street in London’s West End, a region which boasts some of the most expensive office space in the world.
Mybet CEO Zeno Ossk? departs
Mybet CEO Zeno Ossk? will leave the company on 31 August at his own request, to pursue “new professional and personal aims”, the firm announced this week.
His executive board function will be taken over “for the time being” by CFO Markus Peuler who will lead the group in sole management responsibility.
Ossk? has worked at mybet since 2004 and was head of gaming, then COO, before taking up the CEO role last July.
Lottoland hires chief strategy officer
Lottoland has strengthened its management team after hiring Oxford law graduate Elicia Bravo as its new chief strategy officer.
Bravo will join the operator upon completion of an MBA at French business school INSEAD, with her imminent arrival at the Gibraltar-based firm marking a return to her hometown.
After graduating from Oxford University, Bravo qualified as both a UK and a New York lawyer and for seven years represented corporates, sovereigns and top-tier investment banks in a variety of multijurisdictional debt and equity-linked transactions.
