Paf to launch educational tech programme
Åland Island-based operator to work with local government to develop 50 students into IT experts
Paf is rolling out an educational programme which will train 50 student software developers as the operator plays its part in developing the technology talent pool in the Nordics.
The programme, dubbed grit:lab, will begin in 2022 and will educate 50 students using non-traditional teaching methods to help them develop the necessary skills.
The programme will be fully project-based, teacher-free and without regular classes, instead following a gamified two-year process.
The project, which has been developed in tandem with the Åland Government, will be run from Paf’s head office.
Applications for the project will take the form of an online test, with 150 students selected from the first batch. The second step will see 50 students selected to begin their training in August 2022.
Francois Maugis, Paf CTO, said: “Grit:lab is looking for those who have talent and the right personal drive forward, regardless of their age, gender or where they come from. I have no doubt that these students will get a tech job after their education.”
Daniela Johansson, Paf deputy CEO, added: “We are convinced that this will be good and in the end grit:lab can help us find the tech talents we need.
“But the training is not only for Paf, it is for all IT companies. And we hope that many companies want to become partner companies for the education programme so that we together can both help and get help from the IT students.”
