Paddy Power head of online Cormac Barry is to become commercial director for the Irish bookmaker’s recently acquired Sportsbet business.
Barry will make the move to Australia to take up his new appointment at Northern Territory-licensed Sportsbet in August, after spending nearly 10 years with Paddy Power.
As reported on EGRmagazine.com, Paddy Power acquired 51% of Sportsbet in May for an initital consideration of AUD48.5m (27.2m). It then completed a takeover of Australian bookmaker International All Sports (IAS) in June through Sportsbet.
One of Barry’s key responsibilities in the fast-expanding Australian market will be for marketing. This received a major boost last October after the two key wagering states of New South Wales and Victoria lifted restrictions preventing intrastate-licensed operators advertising from one state to another.
