Paddy Power director Woolfenden departs
MD of retail and former global marketing director Christian Woolfenden has left the Irish bookmaker
Paddy Power’s managing director of retail for the UK and Ireland Christian Woolfenden has left the operator in search of a role based permanently in the UK.
Current head of retail for the UK, Dan Taylor, will take over as interim MD of retail until Paddy Power’s mega-merger with Betfair is completed.
Woolfenden, previously Paddys’ global marketing director, was promoted to his current role as part of a major reshuffle of the operator’s digital team ahead of CEO Andy McCue taking over the reins in January.
He joined Paddy Power as chief marketing officer back in 2012, having previously worked for drinks giant Bacardi, where he was global brand director.
Last week the proposed 7bn merger was formally notified to Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (ICCPC).
The deal has entered the first phase of its probe by the ICCPC, with third parties who wish to make submissions regarding the competition aspects of the deal having until 5 November to do so.
Paddy Power and Betfair say they anticipate the proposed merger will complete in January next year.
