Paddy Power unveils Euro 2020 ad campaign with Peter Crouch
Flutter-owned operator urges punters to change bookmakers in comical Switch for Better short
Paddy Power has launched its Euro 2020 TV advertising campaign starring brand ambassador and former England international Peter Crouch.
Crouch, who has already starred in the operator’s marketing material during Cheltenham Festival this year, shows off his German language skills in the new Switch for Better short.
The campaign encourages punters to change bookmakers to Paddy Power ahead of the tournament, where new sign-ups will receive a free £5 Bet Builder on every England fixture.
The ad kicks off Paddy Power’s coverage of this summer’s major sporting event and opens with Crouch telling his wife, Abbey Clancy, that he can’t walk the dog because he’s watching the football.
There is also a reference to upgrading as he walks past Declan’s Bar, as the Irish operator pokes fun at West Ham midfielder Declan Rice for switching allegiances to England.
Celebrating with a crowd of England supporters, the final message from the former Liverpool and Tottenham striker is that “if the grass looks greener…go and play on it”.
Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Peter is always a joy to work with and we can’t be too surprised that a bicycle-kicking, robot-dancing star is a natural in front of the camera.
“He might just be a better actor than footballer, you know.
“As Crouchy says in the ad, there’s a lot to be gained from switching for better, and when Declan Rice ends up winning the Euros, it’ll pain me to say he was right,” he added.
