OPAP selects new Betgenius sportsbook platform in digital overhaul
Greek giant partners supplier now offering full platform solution including major in-play data deal
OPAP will overhaul its digital product after securing a major partnership deal with Betgenius, an agreement which will see the Greek giant migrate its entire online sportsbook business to the sports betting supplier’s brand new platform.
The long-term deal will give the operator access to Betgenius’ entire back-office suite of sports betting solutions; including outsourced trading, CRM and marketing tools, and UX development across all digital channels.
Furthermore, OPAP has signed an additional deal for Betgenius’ in-play data feeds across both its digital and vast retail channels, which will enable the operator to offer real-time prices on more than 140,000 events per year.
The agreement is one of the first major digital-focused deals signed by OPAP’s recently installed CEO, and former Ladbrokes international MD, Damian Cope, as the firm looks to take on the likes of Sportingbet and bet365 in the Greek online sports betting market.
“We are very pleased to be announcing this deal with Betgenius, which is an important step in building a world class portfolio of products and services for OPAP’s customers,” Cope said.
“Our cooperation with Betgenius will allow us to be in more control of our digital sportsbook product and also provide the flexibility to enable us to react quickly to the fast-changing world of digital sports betting,” he added.
Betgenius was selected following a competitive tender process, with the supplier’s recently acquired platform – renamed Betgenius Sportsbook Platform – chosen for its overall scalability, flexibility and back-end capability.
“We are hugely proud and excited to have been selected by OPAP as a key partner in its efforts to offer its customers the best sports betting experience possible,” Jack Davison, Betgenius managing director, said.
“The Betgenius Sportsbook Platform has been developed with speed, flexibility and scalability at its heart, and allows us to uphold the same high standards in technology and customer service to which we have always been committed.”
The migration, which will see OPAP move off its current GTECH-powered technology, is due to begin later this year.
OPAP also announced a retail deal with Playtech, with the supplier giant to provide the operator with its land-based SSBT terminals.
