The UK’s Foot Review of Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories has been published. The report saw British MP Michael Foot look at the Isle of Man and Channel Islands along with six overseas territories: Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Island, Gibraltar and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Recommendations include that the quality of financial planning be aligned with that of best performers the Crown Dependencies; that the UK press for improvements in ‘know your customer’ minimum standards; and that jurisdictions yet to do so commit to automatic exchange of tax information under the EU Savings Directive. Isle of Man chief minister Tony Brown MHK said the report offered a “positive, constructive, and independent assessment of the Isle of Man’s status as a well-regulated and co-operative jurisdiction.”
