Oddschecker Insights: Sky Bet offer king of Euro 2016

Sky Bet’s pre-Euro 2016 customer offer led the way in the early battle for bookmaker dominance, according to Oddschecker, which will be sharing data with EGR throughout the rest of the tournament.

The price comparison website said Sky Bet’s special of bet ?10 on a team to win the tournament and get a ?3 free bet every time that side wins, attracted 69% of existing customer offer clicks on Thursday through to Saturday.

In terms of new account offers, the recently launched LeoVegas Sport went bold by offering fresh accounts 5/1 (from around 10/11) on England to beat Russia.

The price enhancement came with the added promise of payment in cash rather than free bets, a rare occurrence in recent years, and Oddschecker said the offer garnered 62% of new account offer clicks on match day.

Meanwhile, Oddschecker also shared data on which firms were offering the best odds for a treble on the three pre-match favourites on match day two – Switzerland, Wales and England.

Oddschecker shared information at four different points in the lead-up to kick-off of the first match at 2pm on Saturday; 36 hours before kick-off, 24 hours before, 12 hours before, and at kick off itself.

Marathonbet offered the most attractive accumulator price of 10.3 (decimal) 36 hours before kick-off with Ladbrokes heading-up the market 24 hours before start time with 10.8.

The biggest price on the treble was bet365’s 11.2 which could have been taken 12 hours before kick-off while Betfred should have secured the last minute money after it offered a market leading 10.6 at kick-off time.

“With different operators leading the way at each point in time, the battle for bookie dominance is clearly being fiercely contested as they wrestle for that all-important market share,” Guy Harding, Oddschecker head of commercial, said.
