Oddschecker: Football specials help Betfair extend lead
Operator takes more than 20% of market clicks in May
A 25% share of football specials in the market’s busiest ever month helped Betfair reopen a gap of nearly four percentage points over second-place bet365 in May’s Oddschecker Top 10.
The London-listed operator led the way for UK market clicks on football specials, as the retirement of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson brought more than 100,000 market clicks on the football specials market overall.
Sky Bet also benefitted from the busy market, taking a 17% share which helped it reach its highest overall total in 18 months. The Leeds-based firm increased its overall UK share by 29% month-on-month, but remained 10th overall.
This meant Boylesports, which fell out of the top 10 in December, failed to return despite taking 15% of market clicks on this year’s Champions League final.
