Oddschecker: Betfair closes gap on Bet365
Betfair and William Hill have both seen their market share rise significantly in November.
Betfair made up significant ground on Bet365 this month, moving to within 3% of the market leader in November after substantial gains over the course of the month.
Bet365, however, still leads the way overall, with 16.2% of clicks on the site as well as in horse racing (19.45%), with Betfair and Stan James its closest rivals in overall market share. The trio also occupy the same positions when it comes to football.
Betfair’s overall share has risen 0.9% to 13.3%, while the other noticeable increase has come from William Hill, whose share has jumped from 5.7% to 6.9%.
Moving in the other direction are Stan James (9.9%) and Skybet (4.6%), that both saw market fall by 0.8% from October to November
As several reality television shows reached their climax, Betfair was one of several firms to focus on the ‘specials’ market, with its share (20.6%) double that of nearest competitor Betfred.
Further down the list, Victor Chandler reaped the benefits of a greater focus on football, with its recently-launched TV advertising campaign helping double its market share of football bets to 7.5%.
This increase has seen the Gibraltar-based firm overtake Skybet and rise to 7th position in the top 10.
After a rise of 0.5% in November, fourth-placed Ladbrokes will be temporarily removed from Oddschecker.com as the British-based company reviews its business operations, meaning 9.6% of the market share will be distributed between the remaining firms in December’s figures.
