Oddschecker: Bet365 first to achieve 20% market share

Bet365 became the first bookmaker to record a 20% monthly market share on Oddschecker’s top 10 for June, extending its lead over Betfair by more than half a percentage point.

The Stoke-based bookmaker enjoyed the lion’s share of market clicks during Royal Ascot, its 24% horse racing market share dwarfing the figures of its competitors, with only Betfred (up to 5%) and Boylesports (up to 7.1%) improving on May’s numbers.

Ireland’s Boylesports – having sat towards the foot of the top 10 for several months – increased its share and moved clear in sixth place. Its 6.86% overall share is 1.79% ahead of seventh place SkyBet and puts the company within half a percent of Stan James in fifth.

Betfair and Paddy Power, second and third overall, were top of the pile for the Wimbledon tennis and US Open Golf respectively.

Sportingbet, outside the overall top 10, were in the chasing pack for Wimbledon, coming in fifth. Meanwhile Paddy Power’s extra places offer for golf’s second major of the year helped the Irish firm edge out their rivals. With the Open Championship coming up at Royal St George’s this week, Paddy Power will likely look to build on its strong showing when July’s top 10 is published.
