Oddschecker: bet365 ends Betfair reign
Cheltenham Festival offers help operator topple Betfair at the top of the charts with 15.44% market share
Bet365 has ended Betfair’s year-long occupation at the top of Oddschecker’s bet slip clicks league table after the Stoke-based operator reaped the benefits of its Cheltenham Festival special offers.
The operator increased its market share to 15.44% during the month of March, up from 13.91% the previous month, while its percentage of the horse racing market also surged to more than 20%.
The four-day National Hunt meeting saw bet365 offer best price on every horse running in a Channel 4-screened Cheltenham race compared to a selection of its major competitors.
The reverse at the top of Oddschecker’s monthly rankings was the only change to the order as Betfair saw its market share decrease from 15.5% to 13.57% despite its sportsbook leading the European football betting market.
Alderney-licensed operator Sky Betting and Gaming’s Cheltenham offers also proved successful as it cemented its eight-placed position above Ladbrokes with a 5.2% market share. The bookie refunded losing bets on the first race for all four-days of the meeting if won by the SP favourite.
Paddy Power was the strongest performer for rugby union betting markets after commanding 12.89% share of bet clicks on the back of Ireland winning the RBS Six Nations.
