Nordic operator CEGO granted UK licence
Online casino business enters its third operating market following the success of its Spilnu and Lyckost brands in Denmark and Sweden
Nordic operator CEGO has been granted a licence to launch operations in the UK as it ramps up its international expansion plans. After securing accreditation from the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), CEGO will now offer its casino content in three markets, having already launched in Denmark and Sweden. CEGO is targeting recreational casino players and operates both the Spilnu and Lyckost online gaming brands. Spilnu launched in Denmark in 2012, while Lyckost has been operating in Sweden since 2019. CEGO said the majority of its revenue is derived from in-house games and content over titles from third-party suppliers. EGR understands former Mr Green CEO Jesper Kärrbrink is the chair of CEGO, while ex-Danske Spil CFO Allan Auning-Hansen joined as the company’s CEO in August. Auning-Hansen said: “We are very excited to be able to expand into a new market; especially one as significant in online gaming as Great Britain. “At CEGO, we have a proven concept and approach to player acquisition and retention. We look forward to taking this experience into the UK market and continuing to provide fun, high-quality gaming to players,” he added.
