3D poker room PKR and new London poker venue The Fox Poker Club have teamed up to launch London’s first-ever month long poker festival. Aimed at bringing “poker to the people”, London Calling will run for 28 days from 11 October to 7 November, offering 57 tournaments at affordable buy-ins ranging from £20 to £100. The festival will conclude with a £300 buy-in main event. PKR marketing director Simon Prodger said, “It’s been our ambition to put on an event like this for some time, and we’re delighted that London now has the perfect venue in which to do so.”
Australian internet tycoon Daniel Tzvetkoff, charged in April with processing more than US$500m in transactions for US online gaming sites between February 2008 and March 2009, has been secretly released on bail from a New York remand centre, reports The Courier-Mail. The paper said this followed Tzvetkoff entering a plea to a serious criminal charge on August 23. The Australian was arrested in Las Vegas in April, and charged with laundering, money laundering conspiracy, gambling conspiracy and bank fraud conspiracy. It is believed that disgruntled online poker rooms owed tens of millions of dollars by Tzvetkoff tipped off US authorities of his presence in the country.
