News in brief: GTECH G2 ramps up poker investment, Bet365 new hire
GTECH G2 is to invest 2m in poker marketing and double the size of its poker development team.
GTECH G2 is to invest 2m into promotions and tournaments on its International Poker Network , aimed at rewarding existing new players and attracting new players to the network.The software provider is also set to double the size of its poker development team as it looks to enhance its poker product module.
Bet365 has appointed Neil Selby as head of networks and security. Selby was previously head of IP and Security Design at Ericsson.
Player participation in the first 11 events at the World Series of Poker is up 2.5% on the same point last year, reports the Las Vegas-Review Journal, providing reassurance to tournament officials unsure what effect the US DoJ crackdown on US-facing poker sites would have. As of yesterday, 10,624 players had signed up to play in the tournament’s first 11 events, up on the 10,358 players who competed in the same events a year ago.
US intrastate platform provider US Digital Gaming (USDG) has retained The Pollack PR Marketing Group (PPMG) as its PR and marketing agency. Beverley Hills-based USDG last year partnered with Intralot-owned and California-based software supplier CyberArts to develop an intrastate gaming platform for roll out in US states outside of California. USDG also hired former State of Illinois general counsel Melissa Riahei earlier this year as its executive vice president and general counsel.
