New Jersey regulator clarifies affiliate marketing stance
Division of Gaming Enforcement says affiliate promoting illegal online gaming sites have 150 days to comply or face enforcement action
New Jerseyâs Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has confirmed the regulator will take enforcement action against affiliates marketing online gaming sites to New Jersey-based customer who fail to stop promoting unlicensed sites.
The regulator announced Friday (4 June) that affiliates involved in promoting or marketing illegal gaming sites post-UIGEA (2006) or since the launch of the New Jersey online gambling market on 26 November 2013 have 150 days to comply with its decision.
In an Advisory Bulletin by the DGEâs director David Rebuck, the regulator clarified that the ruling applied to current licensed, registered or future applicants for registration or licensure, which must also submit a notarised certification attesting to its compliance.
âA major regulatory concern of the Division of Gaming Enforcement are those affiliates who promote and market illegal online gaming sites to patrons located in New Jersey,â the letter said.
âIt is clear that those illegal online gaming sites who accept wagers from players in New Jersey pose a significant threat to the regulation of lawful gaming,â it added.
Last year the regulator launched a major crackdown on affiliate websites it claims are promoting unlicensed egaming operators to players in the Garden State.
