More online joy for PMU
Egaming amounts staked up by more than 25% year-on-year " mobile bets double for the period.
Pari Mutuel Urbain has seen online amounts staked continue to grow in the first half of 2012, the French operator has revealed in its results for the six months ended 30 June.
After crossing the 1bn threshold in FY 2011, the operator is on course to comfortably surpass that figure again this year, with 821m in H1 amounts staked representing a 28.4% year-on-year increase.
Mobile has been one of the main areas of growth, with amounts staked via the channel more than doubling year-on-year to the point that mobile now represents 20% of online activities. In January this year PMU was approved by regulator ARJEL to offer mobile horse betting and sports betting.
Poker bucked the industry trend, with amounts staked rising 47% year-on-year to 251.3m despite a difficult French market which has brought about the exit of competitors such as chilipoker.fr, while online sports betting amounts staked rose 76% year-on-year to 80.1m.
It remains second behind Betclic for online sports market share, while overall group turnover rose 3.9% year-on-year, coming in at nearly 5.3bn
