Mobile 54% of Paddy Power online revenue
New bingo app latest from Irish operator as it continues to invest in the channel to retain market leading position
Paddy Power said it’s share of revenue from mobile reached 54% in April as it continues to invest in both marketing and product in the mobile channels.
Online revenues outside of Australia dropped 14% for the Irish operator for the period 1 January to 11 May 2014 with a poor run of sports results leading to a 27% fall in sportsbook revenue.
But the operator said online sportsbook stakes were up 19% in the period with first-time bettors up 16%, which was likely driven by continued strong performance in its mobile division.
“We continue to lead the industry on mobile which accounted for 54% of our total online revenue last month,” the firm said in a statement.
Paddy Power chairman Nigel Northridge said the firm would continue to invest into product and technology in order to continue to drive growth in an increasingly competitive sector.
“Last year was also a year of continued significant investment in product, marketing, technology and people, in line with our long term strategy, and we are further increasing that investment this year,” he said.
Paddy Power’s latest mobile launch was version 2.0 of its mobile bingo app that went live last week on iPhone and iPad with a new design and layout.
The app also features 25 side games with some game exclusive to Paddy Power and a new bingo lobby.
