Mexico's Caliente launches Playtech-powered online casino
Caliente.mx goes live with suite of Playtech casino games as sportsbook launch nears
Mexican land-based casino operator Caliente has launched a new online casino through a content deal with software giant Playtech.
The Caliente.mx site has been launched for Mexico-based customers and features Playtech’s suite of casino and slots games, as well as a live casino product.
Playtech’s Vegas product suite has been made available under a separate tab, while a mobile version of the desktop site has also been launched.
Tabs for sports and live betting have been added to the site, however, customers are currently directed to a holding page ahead of a full launch on the Playtech platform.
The site is licenced by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission and managed by Caliente’s technology arm Caliplay Technology Entertainment.
Playtech first disclosed its content deal with Caliente at the supplier’s H1 results disclosure in August, alongside a deal to power a Gazzetta Dello Sport-branded sportsbook.
Speaking to eGaming Review at the time, CEO Mor Weizer confirmed the supplier’s contract with Caliente included a “little sportsbook” for the Mexican brand as part of an initiative to push its sportsbook products into new markets.
Playtech’s footprint in the country is set to expand when Ladbrokes launches in the country, with the firm’s launch pencilled in for later this year.
The bookmaker first earmarked the country as part of its international expansion plans last year, but in June Ladbrokes revealed the launch had been put back after the company encountered minor regulatory issues.
