Merge skin Carbon Poker plans mobile launch
Mobile poker client to provide iPhone users with play money games ahead of wider iOS and Android real-money release
Merge Gaming Network’s Carbon Poker is set to be the first US-facing poker room to launch a mobile offering.
Final testing on the app has been completed and Carbon Poker is currently inviting players to sign up for the beta version, ahead of a freeplay release, initially only for iPhone and iPod Touch users with iOS 5.0 or newer. A real-money offering is also planned, as are versions for iPad and Android players.
A spokesperson for Carbon Poker invited players on the Two Plus Two forum to volunteer to preview the app, and confirmed that “ while it was only available for no-limit, fixed-limit and pot-limit hold’em cash games at present “ tournaments and other cash variants would eventually be made available.
In April last year, Merge blocked new sign-ups from Utah residents after an anti-gambling bill was signed into law by Governor Gary Herbert. The Kahnawake-licensed network also prohibits Maryland, New York, Louisiana, Washington and Missouri residents from registering.
Carbon was one of several skins to take on players from Feltstars after its fellow Merge skin closed in November last year.
