Media and Gaming enters Kiwi market with NZRB deal
Australian wagering software developer Media and Gaming is to launch its Typhoon pools platform for the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB).
AUSTRALIAN WAGERING software developer Media and Gaming is to launch its Typhoon pools platform for the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB).
The multi-million-dollar deal is Media and Gaming’s first major contract win for its pari mutuel wagering platform, and is aimed at broadening the appeal of pools betting beyond horse racing by providing markets on sports including Formula 1, golf, tennis and cycling.
Media and Gaming managing director Nicholas Plowman said that the adoption of the technology would enable the NZRB to overcome the legacy of its tote operations being run on a system that did not enable them to compete against more advanced gaming systems on offer from private sector operators.
Plowman said: “Typhoon enables a wagering operator to respond to customer demand and will help grow new revenues for racing codes, clubs and sporting bodies.”
NZRB chief executive Andrew Brown said: “Typhoon will significantly improve the NZRB’s capacity to compete against offshore operators and enable us to be much more agile and responsive in meeting the needs of the industry and our customers.”
As reported on EGRMagazine.com, Typhoon’s modern take on pools betting went live in Australia in March.
