Mecca Bingo unveils first Apple Watch app
Emoji bingo game debuts on wearable device
Mecca Bingo has launched an app for the Apple Watch for the first time as part of a major upgrade to its mobile offering.
The firmâs exclusive Emoji Bingo game, launched last year, has been rolled out on the wearable device, which also lets customers buy tickets and watch games play out through the app.
The game uses the same format as its mobile app and web counterparts, allowing players to substitute a traditional bingo format for one where emojis have replaced numbers.
âFollowing its hugely successful launch last year, we saw it was important to capitalise on the popularity of Emoji Bingo,â Mecca Bingoâs director of mobile, Simon Woolf, said.
âUpdating our app and making this youthful game available on an Apple Watch makes it more convenient than ever for our customers to enjoy popping the emojis and of course potentially win big prizes.â
Emoji Bingo appears as a dial within other app options on the home screen of the device.
Yesterday, Rank Group reported full-year revenues for Mecca Bingoâs online arm which reported a small increase from £65.2m to £66.2m in 2015-16 but operating profit slumped from £14.1m to £8.6m.
Rank said the bingo brand suffered from stability issues from the new Bede Gaming platform from March to June and the impact of introducing social responsibility tools previously seen at rivals Gala Coral and William Hill.
However, the Group claimed it was taking actions across product, people and marketing to address the slump in Mecca Bingoâs online performance.
