Loto-Québec sees 25% online growth
Espacejeux.com boosted by online lottery sales which began in August.
Loto-Québec has posted a 25% year-on-year increase in revenues from its online gaming business, the Canadian operator has announced in its results for the three months ended 24 September 2012.
EspaceJeux.com attracted sales of CA$5.2m in Q2, a 24.9% increase compared to the same period last year.
The results are the first since state-run Loto-Québec began selling lottery tickets online in August, becoming the third Canadian province to do so after Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC).
The launch of online lottery sales followed a deal in May in which International Game Technology (IGT) agreed to supply Loto-Québec with more than video poker and online casino games for its gaming site.
Overall revenues stood at $917.4m and overall reported earnings were $344.4m, up by 1.9% and 2.5% respectively over the same period last year.
Video lottery revenues decreased slightly to $248.3m however bingo sector revenues jumped by 7.8% to $9.4m, largely due to halls hosting the Kinzo game.
