Ladbrokes sponsors World Series of Darts Finals
Operator continues to bolster sporting sponsorship portfolio under new CMO Kristof Fahy
Ladbrokes has announced a deal to become the title sponsor of the World Series of Darts Finals, to be held in Glasgow in November.
The sponsorship continues a renewed focus on the sport by Ladbrokes in 2016, after the bookie recently became the title sponsor of the Sydney Darts Masters.
“We’re thrilled to be involved with the PDC once again at an incredibly exciting time for darts” Kristof Fahy, Ladbrokes CMO, said.
“We’re passionate about sport and we are constantly bolstering our sponsorship portfolio, and the addition of the Ladbrokes World Series of Darts Finals is something we’re immensely looking forward to.”
Ladbrokes also recently landed the “holy grail of sporting sponsorship opportunities”, when it became the official betting partner of the FA.
The Ladbrokes World Series of Darts Finals will see the top eight players in the World Series rankings following events in Dubai, Auckland, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney and Perth, qualify automatically. They are joined by 16 qualifiers, with the tournament held on 5-6 November at Glasgow’s Braehead Arena and televised live on ITV4.
“We’re delighted that Ladbrokes will sponsor the World Series of Darts Finals,” said PDC chairman Barry Hearn.
“The World Series of Darts is growing year on year, and the inaugural Finals last November was a thrilling tournament which culminated in an outstanding final between Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright.
“Given the ever-increasing standard of darts worldwide, we can look forward with excitement to November’s tournament and another great weekend of darts in Glasgow.”
Darts is an increasingly popular advertising avenue for betting operators, with Unibet, BetVictor and William Hill all announcing major sponsorship deals in recent months.
