Ladbrokes Aus unveils industry-first Cash In tool
Technology allows punters to deposit cash into their online account at over 1,000 newsagents across Australia
Ladbrokes Australia customers can now top up their online accounts with cash at their local newsagent, thanks to a new tool launched by the operator this week.
The Ladbrokes Cash In technology has been rolled out to over 1,000 newsagents throughout the country, meaning punters can hand over cash at the counter and immediately bet with it online.
The operator said the move “completed the cash cycle” for the online customer, having launched a Ladbrokes ATM card last year allowing instant access to online funds.
“This is a real gamer changer,” Dean Shannon, Ladbrokes Australia CEO, said. “This is a great opportunity for our business as it opens our leading product range and promotions to clients that don’t like to use their credit cards or other forms of electronic payment.”
Using their smartphones, customers simply need to press the Cash In button on the Ladbrokes app, select ‘new deposit’ and enter the amount of cash they wish to deposit.
They will then be given a code to present to the newsagent before handing over the cash. A similar process is available for desktop users.
“You can see the client journey,” explained Shannon. “On a Friday afternoon after work you can see this client stopping by the newsagent picking up his paper and form guide, funding his Ladbrokes account and heading down the road to meet his mates at a local meeting spot and having a punt.
“Newsagents are a great distribution point for this product as they are well placed in high density areas and hopefully this product should also drive foot traffic into the newsagents particularly on the back of our TV marketing campaigns,” he added.
The new deposit method will be backed by a major television advertising campaign which is set to get underway this weekend.
Ladbrokes Australia’s branded ATM card, launched in March last year, allows customers to withdraw winnings immediately, rather than waiting for their cash to be transferred into their bank account.
Typically Australian gamblers must wait at least one business day or up to 48 hours if they transfer on the weekend, leading to many customers preferring retail betting outlets.
