Kwiff to honour supercharged St Leger bets following internal investigation
Betting app pledges to pay out winners on boosted odds after technical error saw wagers voided
Kwiff will honour all winning supercharged bets placed as part of a promotion on the Friday of the St Leger horseracing festival. The sports betting app initially voided all bets placed via the promotion due to a technical error, as stakes were returned to customers pending an internal investigation. In the interim, several winning punters took to Twitter to complain, while a spate of negative one-star reviews rolled in on consumer feedback website Trustpilot. However, EGR understands the investigation concluded last night after the Kwiff team worked over the weekend to rectify the problem. All winning bets will now be paid out in full at their supercharged odds, while losing supercharged wagers will remain void with stake refunded. Kwiff told EGR the initial error was technical and a side effect of the bookmaker upgrading its proprietary sportsbook technology. “This is something we needed to do to protect customers and to make sure that no one was out of pocket due to the error,” Kwiff CEO Charles Lee told EGR. “We wanted to ensure it was fair for all and it wouldn’t have been fair to hold funds that were lost while pending an investigation. “We’re always striving to give customers the best experience possible and we look to innovate within our product to do that. “We understand there have been issues with communication and experience, but we hope this resolution means that customers will get a far better experience,” he added.
