Kindred Group is set to explore how augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) can be used by sports bettors to better interact with sporting data.
The Nordic operator’s innovation arm, Kindred Futures, has teamed up with mixed reality firm Zappar to develop an alternate reality experience that allows punters to analyse sporting data easily in an interactive manner before using the data to place bets.
The partnership has so far developed prototype models using Opta data, based on the high-profile sporting events of 2017, including the Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid, and the T20 cricket match between South Africa and England.
Head of Kindred Futures Will Mace said: “Kindred Futures has always been committed to seeking out the most interesting and innovative companies to explore the future of gambling.
“Our largest brand, Unibet, has the tagline Luck is no Coincidence’ and this exploration with Zappar allows punters to discover and interact with data like never before – leveraging Opta data to provide insights that can help them make more informed decisions.
“We’re very passionate about ensuring that audiences are given enough data to make sensible gaming decisions and think that our experiment with Zappar is an exciting step in the right direction.”
