Kambi appoints ex-Gamesys general counsel as chief legal officer
Industry veteran with over a decade of sector experience joins to head up legal team at platform provider
Sportsbook platform provider Kambi has announced the appointment of industry veteran David Carter as its new chief legal officer. Carter, who has over a decade of industry experience, joins from Lucid Counsel Ltd, having previously spent nine years as general counsel and head of legal at Gamesys. While at Gamesys, Carter sat on the board of directors while assembling, supervising, and developing a 15-person legal team from scratch that managed key service agreements with partners and suppliers including Facebook, Virgin Group and Scientific Games. Carter joined Kambi in January and will be based the group’s London office. He will report into chief financial officer David Kenyon. Carter said of his appointment: “Kambi’s leading position in matters of regulation and compliance is well known, and I’m very pleased to be joining its award-winning legal team at what is a hugely exciting time for the business. “It’s been an eventful first few weeks, with our recent contract extension with Kindred and securing long-term partnerships with MaximBet and NorthStar Gaming, and I’m looking forward to helping Kambi to build on this progress in 2022 and beyond.” Kambi recently renewed its sportsbook provider deal with Kindred until 2026, although the Stockholm-listed operator announced its intention to move sportsbook operations in-house after this period.
